    Evening all,

I was just wondering if any of you have taken part in the Marathon de la Loire or have been to watched it? I am really wanting to compete next year once I am fully prepared and just wanted to know if any has done so already?

    Cheers

    Barry

Never done a marathon, it’s on my bucket list though, have you done many before or is it your first one?

    Hi Paul,

No I haven’t yet but have been wanting to take part in a marathon for a long time. I did do a few half marathons back in the UK though but feel I need to train a lot harder to complete it.

Less beer in my case Sarah ;)

    I managed a marathon once.

Still can’t understand why they changed the name to Snickers, though!

That’s my idea of a marathon!

I did the great south run once, my lasting recollection is that of having sore nipples for a few days!

Motivational note following my glibness of earlier:-

ex-Southampton footballer Francis Benali is attempting seven Iron Man Tri-Athlons in seven days for charity. As far as I can remuer, that’s 2.4 mile swim: 112 mile cycle; 26.2 mile run.

    He’s 50 now – born 30th December 1968.

    Puts youngsters to shame, eh!

He starts on 29th April in Manchester and finishes in Southampton on 5th May.

    Hope he does it.

Wow that is impressive? I have done a few charity 5k’s back in the UK but not managed a marathon yet… Good luck to him..

Francis Benali has completed his first triathlon despite a very near-miss accident on the bike ride.

He has now started number two. I’m exhausted just thinking about it!

Sad to report that the medical team has decided that Franny has to retire from his challenge.

He’s done 4 Ironman triathlons in 4 days – surely that’s enough for anyone.

Hopefully he will still reach his £1,000,000 target for Cancer Research UK.
